Welcome to Pamela Kluft's Page

Pamela Kluft

On the outside, my sister, Beth, seemed to have it all. She was beautiful, caring, smart and conscientious and the mother of three wonderful children—Gabrielle, David and Paul. But inside, she struggled with depression—something she hid from others because she didn’t want to be a burden on others. In March of 2012, my lovely sister took her own life.

When someone in the Jewish faith dies, the rabbi reminds us to share our memories as a way to keep our loved one “alive.” The tragedy of suicide is that people often are too ashamed or afraid to speak of a person who died by suicide—and the silence is like another death.

I don’t want silence to rob all of us who loved Beth of our memories. I want to honor her life by telling the truth about how she died so that others who may be struggling with suicidal feelings know that help is available. I want to raise awareness about suicide so more people know about Didi Hirsch’s Suicide Prevention Center and the important, lifesaving services they offer to people who are contemplating suicide, have attempted it or are grieving a loss.

***Please read my story WHY I RUN***

Please support Alive & Running by making a donation and spreading the word: help and hope are available. If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call Didi Hirsch’s 24/7 Crisis Line at 877-727-4747. You can also learn about the warning signs or get more information about support groups at didihirsch.org.

With gratitude,

Pam
